Before you book

  • I teach secondary school students from Key Stage 3 through to A-level, as well as adult learners of all abilities.

  • I offer both online lessons via Microsoft Teams and in-person lessons at an agreed location in Shrewsbury. In-person lessons usually take place in a suitable & quiet public venue. Home visits may also be possible within the Shrewsbury area.

  • Yes. I offer a free 10 minute discovery call before booking any lessons so that we can discuss your goals, current level and what you'd like to achieve. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and decide whether I’m the right tutor for you.

  • Getting started is simple. Book your free discovery call through my website. On the call we will discuss your goals, answer any questions and find the best way to support your learning. If I am fully booked at the time of our call, you can join my waiting list and I'll be in touch once a space becomes available.

Lessons & scheduling

  • Every lesson is tailored to your individual goals, current ability and areas for development. Lessons may involve exploring new concepts, practising skills through guided activities, reviewing previous learning and applying your knowledge through exercises or exam-style questions where appropriate. My aim is to create a supportive environment where you can build confidence, ask questions and develop your understanding at your own pace.

  • Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, allowing time to introduce new material, practise skills and revisit previous learning. Shorter lessons can be arranged upon request, depending on your age, goals and individual needs.

  • For most learners, weekly lessons are recommended to provide consistency and support steady progress over time. Regular sessions allow us to build on previous learning, revisit key areas and maintain momentum between lessons. Some adult learners may prefer fortnightly sessions, depending on their goals and availability. We can discuss the best approach for you during your free discovery call.

  • Lesson times are arranged in advance, with learners booking a regular time slot that is reserved for them. This allows for consistent progress, effective lesson planning and a structured approach to learning.

  • Lessons are available during some school half-terms and holidays, depending on my availability. Parents will always be given advance notice of any planned breaks.

  • Yes, I can provide additional activities to support your learning between lessons if requested. These may include grammar exercises, vocabulary practice and recap activities to reinforce key areas covered during our sessions. I use a range of engaging and interactive resources to make independent practice enjoyable and effective.

  • Lessons start from £35 per hour, with pricing depending on the lesson format (1:1 or 2:1) and whether lessons take place online or in person. In-person lessons may also vary depending on location. If you'd like to find out more about pricing or discuss which option would best suit your needs, please get in touch and I'll be happy to help.

  • All lessons are paid for in advance through block bookings. Once we've agreed on your lessons, I'll send you an invoice with the payment details. Your lessons will be confirmed once payment has been received. If you're lessons are online, I'll then send you a Microsoft Teams link. Payment can be made via BACS or cash.

  • Yes, lessons are booked in blocks of 4, 6, 8 or 10 sessions rather than on a week-by-week basis. Booking a block of lessons helps provide consistency, support steady progress and allows us to plan sessions around your individual goals.

  • Block bookings must be used within six months of purchase. Any remaining lessons after this period will expire. Full details are outlined in my Terms & Conditions before lessons begin.

  • I understand that plans can sometimes change. If you need to cancel a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled start time will be charged in full. For cancellations made with more than 24 hours' notice, there is no charge and I'll do my best to arrange an alternative lesson time where possible. If we're unable to find another suitable time, the lesson will unfortunately be missed.

  • I will always do my best to accommodate lesson changes where possible. If you let me know at least 24 hours in advance, we can discuss an alternative lesson time. Please note that during busy periods (particularly around exams) rescheduling cannot be guaranteed.

  • If you arrive late to a lesson, the session will still finish at the scheduled time. This helps ensure that other lessons can run as planned.

  • Yes, just let me know if you need to stop or take a break from lessons. If you'd like to return in future, I'll do my best to find a suitable slot although your usual time may no longer be available.
